Mission Statement:
Set Free Church,
Riverton,WY
Richard Mills, Pastor
Purpose and Intention:
The purpose of the Set Free Church is to share Jesus with people distressed through life’s crises. These crises may include, but are not limited to, drug addiction, alcoholism, homelessness, or a lack of self-discipline and purpose in life.
We will minister to the need of rebuilding the lives of these individuals by showing them how to make Christ the head of their lives. In addition, we teach them the discipline they need when they are faced with temptations and how to make right decisions instead of the easy ones.
Set Free teaches a work ethic and discipline that helps individuals become the person God would have them to be, using the principles God has shown us in His Word and by being examples of Christ.
Set Free is a protected environment that allows individuals to live away from daily temptations so that they can become rooted in The Word of God and learn who they are in Christ. Set Free leaders mentor and model Christian behavior to help them develop that essential “one-on-one” personal relationship with Christ that they need to live a victorious life.
The leaders of Set Free have personally experienced freedom in Christ and seek to provide a relevant and contextual gospel witness and worship that will speak to the hearts of those in bondage.
Set Free Church is more than a church building or a congregation that meets together once or twice a week. It is a 24/7 evangelistic and discipling opportunity. Set Free Church is not a shelter but we seek to rescue people from their situations and train them to serve Jesus. It seeks to fulfill the five functions of a church, (evangelism, worship, discipleship, ministry and community), as it presents the gospel and disciples new believers in a contextual way.(Matt;28 19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father and of the son and the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.
Behold, I am with always, even to the end of the age.
Set Free Strategy:
Set Free works along a three phase strategy for reaching and disicpling the target people group. Each phase builds upon the previous learning, but not every participant will always complete each phase. Each phase is residential and fully supervised.
Phase One: The Ranch. The ranch program is designed to assist individuals struggling with substance abuse or life controlling problems. It also allows individuals to separate themselves from their old lives and begin to gain new focus on God. The duration of this phase is approximately sixty days, though the actual time may vary due to individual need. This phase is a 24/7 ministry to those beginning the process. During Phase One, residents are on a rigorous weekly work and Bible study schedule in addition to receiving spiritual and biblical counseling.
Phase Two: Discipleship/Work Home. In this phase residents are given time to study the Word of God. This will aid in the development of quality characteristics based on Biblical precepts, as well as allowing the individual to continue to isolate him/herself from their former lifestyle and environment.
The daily schedule allows for an equal balance between spiritual study and the development of positive work habits. The residents in Phase Two are encouraged to seek employment. This enables him/her to begin the transition into becoming a viable asset to society and to his/her family. As they are working, the resident is strongly encouraged to continue living within the framework of the Phase Two program so that they may continue to receive support and helpful supervision. This will allow them to save the funds they will need to purchase a vehicle, rent an apartment or whatever they need as they return to the world of work.
Phase Three: Vocational Training/Ministry Training. Set Free will also offer leadership training and Pastor School for those participants who have been called to full-time ministry. At completion of their chosen course, a certificate will be warded to the graduate. Leadership training is critical to future reproduction of Set Free Ministry as well as to personal lives. We strongly believe that resources, both people resources and financial recourses come out of the harvest.
Throughout the Set Free Phases, Sunday, Set Free Church Services will be apart of the process of discovery of wholeness on the part of the residents. The worship services will be open to residents and their family members. And the community.
